\The June 24, 2008 City Council meeting was short and short-handed. Mayor Wilson and Councilmember Rowley were absent, so the meeting was chaired by Vice-Mayor Livingstone. The Council appointed 21 members to next year's Teen Council, and the outgoing Teen Council presented its Annual Report. The Council appointed Peter Rathman as a replacement to the Transportation Advisory Committee. Since the term of the individual who resigned was up in six months, Councilmember Perkins requested that the appointment be for 2.5 years, which the other Councilmembers approved. Alex Mehran, President of Sunset Development, gave a presentation on the progress of the City Center plans. · Site plans and engineering will be completed for the lots on the South side of Bollinger by the end of this year. · Construction of the office buildings on the South side of Bollinger will begin in 2010 along with the new City Hall to the West. · The architectural design of Plaza with the hotel, retail and residential units on the North side of Bollinger will be submitted to the City for approval in March of next year. · The first Office Building will open in December of 2010. · The City Hall will open in December, 2011. · The whole project will be completed by November, 2012. The project is estimated to bring in $4-6M a year in new revenue.

City planners said Tuesday they agree with hundreds of homeowners near the site of a proposed ampm mini-market that the store would look out of place in the neighborhood. Commissioners unanimously rejected the Singh family's request to demolish their aging gas station and adjacent 1,600-square-foot retail store/auto service garage at Montevideo Drive and Alcosta Boulevard and replace it with a new Arco station and 2,400-square-foot convenience store. The decision thrilled representatives of some 700 San Ramon residents who signed a petition opposing the project.
