The eastbound Interstate Highway 80 offramp to Pinole Valley Road in Pinole is expected to remain closed until about 3 p.m. Friday as crews work to clear a big rig injury accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A big rig went off the eastbound side of the highway around 3:47 a.m. and landed on a Ford Escort carrying several people, CHP Officer Marc Johnson said.
The driver of the Escort was transported in a helicopter to a hospital with moderate injuries and the driver of the big rig was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP..
